Ian Ross was a General Practitioner in Leith, Edinburgh for 28 years, and retired from the practice in 2005. He has long been interested in the relationship between stress and ill-health, and in developing (non-drug) ways to reduce the ill effects of stress. He began running Stress Management groups with the then practice counsellor Sally Dick in 1991, and has been teaching Autogenic Therapy in small groups at the practice since 1994; in recent times these have been on an NHS basis.
Over the last few years he has developed a particular interest in the interface between Autogenic Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Visualisation techniques, Meditative type practices and neuro-science – and these are all integrated in his approach to teaching AT.
He continues to take Autogenic Training groups at his old surgery in Leith, and also offers one-to-one Autogenic Therapy from his home in Gullane.
