I've been practising and teaching autogenics for the past twenty years, having learnt the technique during a time of difficulties
in my personal life and stress and anxiety in a previous career. Most of the tension of this time went straight to my lower back
and I was in danger of seizing up on all levels. Autogenics allowed me to relearn how to relax deeply, release the tightness in
my muscles so that I could go on to practise yoga in order to regain suppleness, and to see more clearly that I had options and
choices for a healthier life. So I can vouch personally as well as professionally for the simple but profound benefits that this
Western form of meditation can bring.
The way I teach autogenics is:
in seven fifty-minute sessions (an assessment, five lessons, and a follow-up six weeks after the final lesson);
one-to-one so each course is tailor-made to the individual's unique circumstances;
from my home in Central Chiswick just to the north of the Hogarth Roundabout (parking is not a problem) and seven minutes walk
from the District Line at Turnham Green;
daytimes on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays.
I also work as a counsellor for individuals and couples using a transpersonal perspective and a range of approaches including
cognitive therapy. In addition, I offer the insights of the Myers-Briggs (a Jungian-based way of deepening self and other awareness)
and the Enneagram (which helps us to identify the restricting habits and patterns we have built up over a lifetime and to define what
needs to be done to begin to shift them). These are fascinating, practical and non-judgemental ways of seeing more clearly: ourselves;
our relationships with others; and our purpose in life and can be used as a valuable adjunct to autogenics.
