The BAS (British Autogenic Society) is the professional and educational organisation for Autogenic Therapists
in the United Kingdom. We have been established since 1984, and remain the first port of call for anyone wishing to know more about
Autogenic Therapy, or AT, in the UK.
The Society is a member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), The International Committee for the co-ordination
of the clinical application and teaching of Autogenic Training and Therapy (ICAT), the European Association for Psychotherapy
(EAP), and the European Committee for Advanced Analytic Autogenic Therapy (ECAAT).
BAS members represent a range of professions and backgrounds, all related to the fields of health and well-being. They include medical
doctors, nurses, psychologists, psychotherapists, counsellors, and experienced practitioners of complementary and alternative health
therapies. All our members are licensed AT practitioners, having had to undergo a rigorous training and development programme before
becoming qualified by the BAS.
Recently, more and more people have become aware of the benefits of AT and how it can help alleviate the symptoms and stresses
associated with busy lives and a changing world. This has led to a surge in demand for up-to-date, accurate and reliable information
on this unique therapy. We hope our website will give you all of the essential information and advice you need including the origins
of AT, its clinical and non-clinical applications, the latest news features, and of course, how to become, and find, a recognised AT
therapist in your area. The BAS is a member of the following:
* The United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy (UKCP)
* The International Committee for the co-ordination of the clinical
application and teaching of Autogenic Training and Therapy (ICAT)
* The European Committee for Advanced Analytic Autogenic Therapy (ECAAT)
The British Autogenic Society is committed to promoting equality and diversity and ensuring equal access to training,
employment and membership opportunities. Such opportunities will not be withheld, in any of the Society's activities, on the
grounds of prejudice, regarding gender, race, culture, religion, age, disability or sexual orientation or other differences
unrelated to competence to practise Autogenic Therapy or any other activities in which the BAS is involved. Autogenic Therapists
are therefore responsible for following good practice on issues of equality and diversity.
