PLEASE NOTE: Courses start in March and September each year

Teach AT - 'Helping people to help themselves'
Teaching AT is a rewarding experience, and the extent of the rewards can surprise the practitioner. The BAS's one-year part-time course is open to those already working in the helping professions, and leads to a Level 1 Diploma in Autogenic Training. This qualifies you to teach AT in your chosen setting as a Full Member of the British Autogenic Society. Members may then undertake a three-year part-time post-graduate course, leading to a Level 2 Diploma in Autogenic Psychotherapy.

How to become a Therapist
You should consider training as an Autogenic Therapist

...if you agree with any of these statements:

• 'Stress lies behind many of the symptoms patients present.'
• 'Drug treatments are not enough on their own to deal with certain problems.'
• 'The most effective treatment is when the patient plays an active role in their healing process.'
• 'Preventative approaches are an essential complement to current practice.'

and work in any of these roles:

• doctor, nurse, counsellor, psychotherapist, psychologist, complementary therapist, social worker, teacher or have the equivalent life experience ...

Benefits of the course
After qualifying, you will have added a new string to your therapeutic bow by having acquired the skills to teach people a powerful method of deep relaxation, which rebalances the body's autonomic nervous system. The emphasis is very much on helping people to help themselves.

You could set up in independent practice, or work in the many areas where AT is applicable, such as in organisations concerning mental health, pregnancy and child-birth, stress reduction, complementary health centres; industry; sports and fitness centres. In time, it would be our hope that GP surgeries would make NHS provision for AT for their patients.

You will be eligible to become a Member of the British Autogenic Society and enjoy the benefits of being in touch with like-minded professionals around the world.
