BAS Board - Who's Who
The British Autogenic Society is led by a voluntary Board, whose officers have chosen to dedicate their time and energies to ensure
Autogenic Therapists receive the support they need to continue practising AT, and that more people learn and gain from the benefits
of this effective non-drug, self-help approach to reducing the symptoms of stress and other conditions.

Jane Bird - General Administration
Jane is an autogenic psychotherapist, counsellor and stress management consultant. Alongside many years in the nursing profession
and bringing up three children, in 1982 Jane completed her professional training in AT. This was with Dr Wolfgang Luthe, who
researched and developed AT with its founder - Dr Schultz. She has undertaken experiential work in basic AT and Autogenic
Neutralisation. It was through her personal experience of autogenics that she realised the exciting yet neglected potential
of self-healing processes. She was fortunate to be able to use her nursing qualification and experience to train as an Autogenic
Therapist.
|
| |
Her professional training in AT was gained before the formation of the British Autogenic Society in 1984 (then named British
Association for Autogenic Training and Therapy) of which she is a Founder Member. In addition she has written and had published
articles (in the 'GP' 1994, Positive Health 1997 and 2006, featured in 'Top Sante' 1996, several in 'In Balance') and acted as
consultant advisor for various articles and publications about AT (e.g. Encyclopaedia of Complementary Medicine published by
Dorling Kindersley).
Jane is a Tutor/Supervisor for the British Autogenic Society. As a personal supervisor and lecturer on BAS training courses,
she has found the task of supporting new therapists in gaining their professional qualification with the BAS very rewarding.
This requires giving support and guidance to student therapists on an individual basis, and leading tutorial seminars.
Together with Christine Pinch, then a fellow member of the Training Committee of the British Autogenic Society, she has written
a book, Autogenic Therapy - Self-help for Mind and Body.

Tamara Callea - Admissions
Tamara has a degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Heidelberg in Germany. She has been practising and teaching AT
for 15 years. She also has a Diploma in Autogenic Psychotherapy. She trained in the various stages of Autogenic Psychotherapy:
the Neutralisation stage as well as the Advanced Analytic stage.
|
| |
Tamara is fluent in 5 languages and is at present International Representative for the British Autogenic Society. She runs a
private psychotherapy practice from her home near Reading. She also helps run AT groups at the Royal London Homoeopathic Hospital.
She is both a tutor and a lecturer on the BAS' Trainers' course.
She is continuously inspired by the creativity of the human psyche when it is given the chance to heal itself through the autogenic
process. She believes that whatever the background of an individual, AT brings out what is needed for balance and healing.

Nida Ingham - Assessment
Nida is a qualified Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Expressive Arts Therapist. She is registered as a psychotherapist with the
United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
Nida became an Autogenic Therapist after personally experiencing the benefits of AT. Her early career was as a nurse and health
visitor. She was community nurse tutor at a leading London teaching hospital for 8 years.
|
| |
In 1983 Nida trained as an Autogenic Trainer with the late Dr. W. Luthe (who researched and developed AT, initially with its
founder Dr. J. Schultz). After this Nida trained in other branches of AT (Meditation and Neutralisation) and Luthe's Creativity
Mobilisation Technique. She has been a B.A.S. Training Course tutor and supervisor since 1992.
Nida works with individuals or small groups at her practice in Surrey, and sometimes at a client's business or home.

Dr Ian Ross
A General Practitioner in Leith, Edinburgh for 28 years, Ian retired from the practice in 2005. He has long been interested in
the relationship between stress and ill-health, and in developing (non-drug) ways to reduce the ill effects of stress. He began
running Stress Management groups with his then practice counsellor in 1991, and has been teaching Autogenic Therapy with small
groups at the practice since 1994; in recent times these have been funded by the NHS.
|
| |
Over the last few year Ian has developed a particular interest in the interface between Autogenic Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour
Therapy, Visualisation techniques, Meditative type practices and neuro-science. At present he continues to offer AT (both on
and individual and group basis) at his former surgery in Leith, and from his home in East Lothian.
